MOA Tour

On November 13, 2024 18 members of our Probus Club travelled by the SAC shuttlebus across Burrard Inlet from West Vancouver to the University of British Columbia to tour the newly reopened Museum of Anthropology. Its magnificent building, designed by renowned Architect Arthur Erickson, was opened in 1976.
The building was closed in 2022 for 18 months of seismic upgrades and other improvements. It reopened on 13 June 2024 bigger and better than ever.
Our Tour Guide was MOA Curator Damara Jacobs-Petersen, an Indigenous Canadian born and raised in North Vancouver. She gave the members a fact-filled detailed talk about the Indigenous history on display in this spectacular setting and building. The photos below were provided by members Roddy MacKenzie (present in several of the photos), Terry McLeod and Daryll Stodalka. Click on each photo to view full size.
