On March 21st, 32 members attended a private tour of the Britannia Mines exhibit in Britannia Beach. We had a full bus and several members volunteered to carpool. The exhibit included a two hour guided tour of the underground Copper Quest mine, including a short train ride through the tunnels. In the large mill building we were treated to the “BOOM” show, a multi sensory movie in which the whole building is brought to life. Finally we attended a lab demonstration and movie depicting the remediation of the site and the water treatment plant. All in all, and excellent experience. Following the tour, we had a pub lunch at the Copper Beach restaurant across the street from the mill. Below are photos from the tour.
